From 13th October 2022 to 8th January 2023 the Lentos Art Museum in Linz in Upper Austria was presenting the first museum retrospective with works by Karl Hauk, which documents the extensive work of this important artist of the interwar period.

Karl Hauk Retrospective

Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz

Ernst-Koref-Promenade 1

4020 Linz

Kunsthandel Widder has been looking after the estate of Kark Hauk (1898-1974) for many years. Four monographs have been published and works by the artist have been shown in numerous exhibitions about the interwar period, the Hagenbund and Neue Sachlichkeit. Karl Hauk is now regarded as one of the most important artists of Austrian Modernism, whose work oscillates between Expressionism and New Objectivity.

Parallel to the painter's retrospective in the Lentos Art Museum in Linz, Kunsthandel Widder in Vienna is presenting until January 28 an extensive selection of graphics, drawings, gouaches and oil paintings by Karl Hauk. All works in the exhibition can be found online at

In conversation with Dr. Hannes Etzlstorfer, Kunsthandel Widder has also recorded a podcast series.
